Lots of Landscaping!

Subhan Shafiq and Jenni Ferrans have been checking out the overgrown landscaping in Monkston Park and Kents Hill.

They have demanded this grass is cut back on the  roundabout at the junction of Plaistow Crescent and Maida Vale, as well as the grass near the flats.

There's a roundabout under there - honestly!

But there was some success at last!  The grass outside the care home in Kents Hill has been added to the grass cutting schedule.

Parking Problems on Lindisfarne Drive

The Conservative council has refused ALL the proposals to improve parking made by the Parish Council recently.  Now we need your help.

On Monkston, almost all residents supported the proposal for double yellow lines on the inside of the bends on Lindisfarne Drive, so now we want you to send us your experiences of the problems there, so that we can make clear to MK Council how bad it is.

Sadly there has been a lot of dumped rubbish and litter across our area over the past month. The Focus team has been working hard to get it all removed.  Two blackspots cleared so far include rubbish on the green at Pettingrew Close, Walnut Tree and the rubbish bags dumped on Lindisfarne Drive, Monkston. Please let us know if there is dumped rubbish near you.

Cllrs Subhan Shafiq and Jenni Ferrans in Walton Manor – the field next to Walton Grange now scheduled for development

Early plans are being developed for high tech companies in a special science park opposite the OU, with access from the H9 Groveway.

As part of this development there may be some housing at the southern side, bordering Simpson Road and next to Walton Grange.   Your local Lib Dem Focus team will keep you posted and ensure you are able to take part at the consultation stage.

The Lib Dem team has met with MK Council and asked if a play area can be built into the scheme so that children from Walton Grange and Walton Park have somewhere to play – something that is badly missing at present!

Residents are proud of our area – but it’s not helped by illegible and damaged street signs making it hard for people to find their way around!  Recent action by the Focus team includes:

  • Cllr Subhan Shafiq had to chase the Tory council for two months to get the sign in Hindhead Knoll repaired
  • Vaness McPake has had bushes cut back so that the sign on Groundsel Close is visible again
  • Cllr Jenni Ferrans has reported the damaged sign in Tatling Grove – about to fall over!
  • Vanessa McPake has asked for the worn lettering to be replaced on the sign on Juniper Gardens

Many people are still finding it hard to find get jobs locally – but the Tories have made it worse by removing MK Council’s recession-buster’s web pages that helped point people to key advice!

Cllr Jenni Ferrans says “Things are actually looking up in our area –  Waitrose at Oakgrove, more shops and the library at Kingston and A G Barr at Magna Park will all offer jobs – but we need to help local people get the jobs!
