Success! The parking at Monkston Park shops should be free for all, not just shoppers! That’s what lots of you told us when the shop-keepers put up signs recently. The illegal signs have now been removed, thanks to Lib Dem Jenni Ferrans.
After a lot of pressure from your Lib DemFocus team, some of the potholes in Lichfield Down, Walnut Tree are beginning to be fixed BUT the Council are still saying they must be 50cm deep before they will repair them! Your councillors will still keep leaning on the council.
The Lib Dems still want the whole of Lichfield Down re-surfaced, and not this piecemeal work, to ensure car drivers, cyclists and bus users have a less bumpy trip.
“Well done!”, said parents to the Lib Dems for getting the traffic chaos at Monkston Primary School sorted out. The Police will now be able to enforce the one-way flow.
On the case. The Lib Dem Focus team continues to report broken signs. The Lib Dem Focus team 1st reported this one in Crowborough Lane, Kents Hill, 6 months ago! The Council fixed all the others near by but not this one which is in danger of falling over on cars! It was eventually fixed recently after Cllr Subhan Shafiq reminded the Council – for the fourth time!
Come on Tory-run MK Council! Fix the keep-left signs on our major roundabouts. The one on Walton roundabout was hit months ago and is still not repaired!
If you spot any road signs that are faulty please let the Lib Dem Focus team know.
Bus user, Vanessa McPake, says “Watch Out” as the new bus timetable comes in on 27th April. She is an active member of the MK Bus Users Group and has been checking out the changes for local residents.
No 8 bus route has a revised timetable; you may have to change in CMK if going westwards. Sunday services end earlier and will now be run by Arriva.
No 9 bus route – no change.
Nos 11/12 bus routes – some route changes with no buses to the hospital.
Vanessa McPake has got MK Council to agree to install pigeon deterrents under the bridge carrying the Groveway after residents complained that the pigeons there were dive-bombing children on their way to school!
Jenni Ferrans got the panel in the bus shelter in Dunchurch Dale, Walnut Tree, repaired straight away.
Over the summer the Lib Dem Focus team has got many street signs cleared of bushes but the work continues as evergreen bushes are still spreading. Don’t forget to tell the Focus team if your street name plate is covered up.
There has been a partial success on the PlusBus Community Transport service. Although the Liberal Democrat amendment to MK Council’s budget to save the PlusBus service in its current form was voted down by Conservative and Labour Councillors, your pressure helped force them to add £200,000 to the budget to fund the transition of the service. So, although ultimately the service will be reduced current users will be protected by transitional arrangements for some time.
The Council will be devising plans for the new service, and any restrictions on its use, over the summer – so watch this space!
“What a mess”, that was the verdict of the Lib Dem Monkston Focus team when they recently visited the temporary footpath out of Walton Grange. “We have had many new developments in our area but we have never seen such a mess!”, continued the Focus team.
The temporary footpath is the only safe way out of the estate to walk to school, go shopping, get onto the redways to cycle and for many dog walkers. It leads into Beales Lane.
But at present, with the latest houses being built, the builders’ contractors have managed to dump rubble and mud along the footpath so that it is very dangerous. And there were lorries and dumper trucks manoeuvring round and parked across the entrance!
The Lib Dems have complained to the developers in the strongest terms and have been told they will ensure pedestrians can get through. We wait to see!
Deputy Mayor, Cllr Subhan Shafiq said: “As a new dad, I could not have got my pram up this footpath. It is a disgrace and dangerous for kids. Why is the Council allowing this to go on?”
SUCCESS! The path surface was compacted again and properly fenced and the material store moved within a few days.
